The short answer

Aqara's US store lists five smart locks as of November 2026: the U400, U300, U200, U100 and U50. For most homes with a standard deadbolt, the U400 ($269.99) is the one to look at: fingerprint reader, touchscreen keypad, Apple home key, hands-free unlocking with UWB on supported Apple devices, and Matter over Thread. The U300 ($229.99) is Aqara's lever-handle lock, and the U50 ($149.99) is the cheapest way into Aqara's Apple home key locks.

  • Best overall: Aqara U400. $269.99. Fingerprint (up to 50), touchscreen passcode, Apple home key, UWB approach unlock on supported iPhone and Apple Watch models, Matter over Thread, a rechargeable battery rated up to 6 months and an IP65 outer panel.
  • Best for lever doors: Aqara U300. $229.99. A lever lock with a fingerprint reader in the handle (up to 25), a touchscreen keypad, Apple home key and Matter over Thread, on replaceable batteries rated up to 10 months.
  • Best value fingerprint lock: Aqara U100. $189.99. Fingerprint (up to 50), keypad and Apple home key on four AA batteries rated up to 8 months. Built on Zigbee, so remote features and Matter need an Aqara hub.
  • Lowest-priced Aqara lock: Aqara U50. $149.99. Keypad, NFC card, key and Apple home key on Zigbee. Aqara's page does not list a fingerprint reader.
  • Retrofit option, check your door first: Aqara U200. $169.99. Aqara says it fits over your existing lock without drilling and supports Matter over Thread, but lists compatibility with Euro profiles and select Scandi cylinders.

Prices are Aqara's US store prices as of November 2026 and can change.

The picks in detail

Aqara U400: best overall

Price: $269.99 on Aqara's US store as of November 2026, in black or silver. Aqara also sells it in bundles with its doorbell cameras and in 2 and 4 packs.

Who it's for: a home with a single-cylinder deadbolt, an iPhone or Apple Watch, and an Apple, Google or Amazon smart home that has a Thread border router.

Key facts from Aqara: a built-in fingerprint reader that stores up to 50 fingerprints, a touchscreen keypad with anti-peep passcodes, NFC card support (cards sold separately), a mechanical key, and Apple home key tap-to-unlock. Aqara's UWB feature unlocks the door as you approach, but it needs a Thread-enabled Apple home hub and works only on select iPhone and Apple Watch models. Matter over Thread lets it work with Apple Home, Home Assistant, Google Home, Alexa and Samsung SmartThings. Aqara also lists a digital home key in Samsung Wallet when connected through SmartThings. The battery is rechargeable and removable, rated up to 6 months, with a USB-C port on the lock. The outer panel is rated IP65, and the lock can be rekeyed.

Trade-offs: each ecosystem needs its own Thread-enabled controller, and the price is the highest of the five. See our page on devices that support Matter for how Matter and Thread fit together.

Aqara U300: best for lever doors

Price: $229.99 on Aqara's US store as of November 2026, in black or silver.

Who it's for: doors with lever handles, including busy home or office doors that suit Passage Mode.

Key facts from Aqara: a lever lock with the fingerprint reader built into the handle (up to 25 fingerprints, unlocking in 0.3 seconds by Aqara's figure), a touchscreen keypad, Apple home key with NFC cards, a mechanical key and Bluetooth. It supports Matter over Thread, runs on replaceable batteries that Aqara rates for up to 10 months, carries an IPX4 rating, has a Passage Mode for busy spaces and suits left and right-handed doors.

Trade-offs: Aqara's page does not state the battery type or the door thickness range in the text we read.

Aqara U100: best value fingerprint lock

Price: $189.99 on Aqara's US store as of November 2026, in gray or silver.

Who it's for: anyone who wants fingerprint and Apple home key at a lower price and already has, or is willing to buy, an Aqara hub.

Key facts from Aqara: a fingerprint reader that stores up to 50 fingerprints locally, a keypad with anti-peep passcodes, Apple Home with home key, and Zigbee with Google Home, Alexa and IFTTT support. Remote features and automations need an Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub, and Matter needs a Matter-supported Aqara hub. It runs on four included AA batteries rated up to 8 months, has an IP65-rated outer panel, a mechanical key and a USB-C emergency port, and meets BHMA Level 3 by Aqara's wording. Aqara also lists a U100 and Hub M100 bundle at $186.99.

Trade-offs: Zigbee, and Aqara's page says an Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub is required for automations, remote unlock and Matter support.

Aqara U50: lowest-priced Aqara lock

Price: $149.99 on Aqara's US store as of November 2026. A U50 and Hub M100 bundle was $152.99.

Who it's for: a budget Apple home key lock where fingerprint is not required.

Key facts from Aqara: Apple Home with home key, keypad entry, NFC card access, a key and a USB-C emergency port, Zigbee with Google Home and Alexa, a gyroscope-based auto-lock, battery life up to 6 months, BHMA Level 3 and an IPX5 rating.

Trade-offs: Aqara's page does not list a fingerprint reader or say which hub it needs. Aqara sells the U50 in a bundle with its Hub M100.

Aqara U200: retrofit, check compatibility

Price: $169.99 on Aqara's US store as of November 2026, in black or silver.

Who it's for: someone who wants Matter over Thread on a door whose lock must stay in place.

Key facts from Aqara: it fits over your existing door lock without drilling or screwing, supports Matter over Thread, and unlocks with Apple home key, fingerprint, password and NFC. Power comes from rechargeable Li-ion batteries rated up to 6 months, or AAA batteries, or a 12 to 24 V hard-wired supply. Aqara says it is compatible with Euro profiles and select Scandi cylinders and asks you to verify compatibility before purchase. Aqara says it is exclusively compatible with the Aqara M3 hub for best performance.

Trade-offs: the compatibility text we read names European cylinder types and says nothing about US deadbolts, so confirm your door before buying. If your goal is a lock you can add without replacing hardware, see our best smart lock for renters picks.

Aqara hubs and ecosystems

Aqara sells the U100 and U50 as Zigbee locks. Aqara's U100 page says an Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub is required for automations, remote unlock and Matter support, and the U50 page does not state a hub requirement. The U400, U300 and U200 use Matter over Thread, and Aqara says the U400 needs a Thread-enabled controller for each ecosystem, such as an Apple home hub for Apple Home. Aqara lists Apple home key on all five locks and says Apple home key and UWB need an Apple Thread-enabled controller on the U400. For Apple-based homes, our page on devices that work with Apple Home lists others.

How to choose an Aqara smart lock

  1. Match the lock to your door. The U400 is for single-cylinder deadbolts and the U300 is a lever lock. The U200 is a retrofit with a compatibility caveat.
  2. Decide how you want to unlock. Fingerprint is on the U400, U300 and U100. Keypad is on all five. If you only need a keypad and Apple home key, the U50 costs the least.
  3. Pick Thread or Zigbee. Thread models (U400, U300, U200) suit homes that already have a Thread border router. Zigbee models (U100, U50) suit homes that will add a hub; Aqara names its Zigbee 3.0 hub for the U100.
  4. Check the battery. Rechargeable (U400, U200), four AA (U100), or replaceable batteries (U300). Aqara's months are based on about 8 unlocks a day.
  5. Compare with other brands. For fingerprint models from other makers see our best fingerprint door lock and best keypad door lock pages, or best smart locks overall.

What we don't know

  • Real-world reliability. Everything here comes from Aqara's own pages, including battery life, fingerprint speed and weather ratings.
  • The U50 lock type and door fit. The text we read does not state them, and the U100 door requirements were not checked beyond its single-cylinder deadbolt fit.
  • U200 compatibility with US doors. Aqara's text names Euro profiles and select Scandi cylinders only.
  • Whether sale and bundle prices will last. Aqara lists several bundles priced below some single locks, and no end dates.
  • Locks not on Aqara's US store. Our site has a listing for the U500 rim lock, but it was not among the locks on Aqara's US store on November 2, 2026, so it is not covered here.

How this page was put together

This page compares what Aqara publishes. Nothing here comes from using the locks ourselves. We read Aqara's US store product pages and its US product pages for the U400 and U100 on November 2, 2026. We used no reseller prices, reviews or third-party ratings.
