About

The Aqara Smart Lock U100 replaces a single-cylinder deadbolt. It unlocks by fingerprint (up to 50 stored locally), keypad code (permanent, periodic or one-time), Apple Home Key on an iPhone or Apple Watch, NFC tag (sold separately; two come in the U100 Kit), or mechanical key. A built-in gyroscope handles auto-lock and lock-status sensing, and Do Not Disturb and Passage modes are available. The outer panel is IP65 rated, and Aqara says the lock meets the same structural standard as BHMA Level 3. The lock is built on Zigbee, so an Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub adds remote access, automations and third-party platforms.

Setup and compatibility notes

Installation is DIY with a PH1 screwdriver, and Aqara says most doors need no drilling. Aqara's requirements: a single-cylinder deadbolt to replace, a 2 3/8 or 2 3/4 inch backset (60 or 70 mm), a wooden door 1 3/8 to 2 11/64 inches thick (35 to 55 mm), and a 2 1/8 inch (54 mm) bore hole.

Apple Home and Home Key work without an Aqara hub. An Apple home hub is needed for HomeKit automations and remote unlock in Apple Home. An Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub is needed for remote unlock in the Aqara Home app, automations, and Alexa or Google Home, and Matter needs a Matter-capable Aqara hub plus a Matter controller. Power comes from 4 AA batteries (included), with a USB-C port on the outer panel for emergency power.
