Kidde Smart Smoke + CO Alarm (30CUAR-W)

By Ethan Halfhide · Updated

The Kidde 30CUAR-W is a hardwired smart smoke and carbon monoxide alarm that connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and sends real-time smoke, CO and low battery notifications to the Kidde app on iOS 14 or later and Android 9 or later. Kidde says no additional devices are needed: download the app and use what is in the box. It runs on 120V AC with two AA backup batteries, uses a photoelectric smoke sensor and an electrochemical CO sensor, sounds an 85 dB alarm with spoken "Fire!" and "Warning, Carbon Monoxide" alerts, and can hush nuisance alarms from your phone when you are nearby. Kidde's headline feature is whole home smart connectivity: add one smart alarm to existing Kidde hardwired alarms and get mobile alerts for all of them. The data sheet lists interconnect with up to 24 Kidde devices and a 10-year limited warranty (batteries excluded), and says the alarm is compatible with Alexa-enabled devices and Google Home. Price: kidde.com shows no price for this model, and Kidde's US online store (shopkidde.com) did not list it as of October 2026; a search of that store for 30CUAR-W returned no products, and the only smart smoke and CO alarm in its smart alarm listing was the Ring-branded version. About

The Kidde Smart Combo Smoke + CO Alarm, model 30CUAR-W, is a 120V hardwired alarm with two AA backup batteries, a photoelectric smoke sensor and an electrochemical CO sensor. It joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and sends smoke, CO and low battery notifications to the Kidde app with no other devices required. Kidde says adding one smart alarm to existing Kidde hardwired alarms gives mobile alerts for every hardwired alarm in the home, and its data sheet lists compatibility with Alexa-enabled devices and Google Home.

Setup and compatibility notes

  • Power: 120V AC, 60 Hz, with two AA backup batteries included. Kidde's FAQ says AC power is required for full operation and Wi-Fi, and the batteries are backup only. For replacements, Kidde lists Energizer E91, Gold Peak 15A or Golden Power GLR6A and says not to use lithium batteries.
  • Mounting: the alarm fits any standard single gang electrical box up to a 4 inch octagon junction box, on a wall or ceiling, and connects with a plug-in quick connector. Kidde says to wire all alarms to a single, continuous, non-switched power line that is not on a ground fault interrupter.
  • Interconnect: up to 24 Kidde safety devices, within the NFPA limit of 12 smoke or smoke/CO alarms and 18 alarms total, with no more than 1,000 feet of interconnect wire. Kidde says it is not designed to interconnect with other makers' alarms unless specified.
  • App: download the Kidde app (iOS 14 or later, Android 9 or later). The alarm pairs only to a 2.4 GHz network with a compatible 802.11b/g/n router. You can share device access with other users for alerts on multiple phones.
  • Voice assistants: follow the Kidde app help section to link Amazon Alexa or Google Home.
  • Status check: a steady green LED means AC power; status is also shown in the app.
  • Replacement: the user guide asks you to write a Replace by date 10 years from initial installation.
  • Alarm sounds: for fire, three long beeps with the voice "Fire!"; for CO, four quick beeps with "Warning, Carbon Monoxide". Only the alarm that detected the hazard blinks its red LED, so you can tell which unit started the alarm.
  • Alarm memory: Kidde says the alarm tells you if smoke or CO was detected in the last 24 hours, with a red LED blink pattern.
  • End of life: at end of unit life it chirps twice every 60 seconds and says "Replace Alarm".
