The Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2 (Samsung model GP-AEOHUBV4US) is the current SmartThings hub, listed at $119.99 on Samsung.com as of September 2026. It supports Zigbee 3.0, Matter and Thread (with a built-in Thread border router), connects by Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and runs most automations locally. Z-Wave does not appear in Aeotec's technical details for Hub 2.

About
Hub 2 is built by Aeotec for Samsung SmartThings. Aeotec lists a 900MHz CPU and 512MB RAM, and Samsung says it has 70% faster CPU performance and double the RAM of the previous model. It connects up to 150 Zigbee devices, works as a Matter controller with an integrated Thread border router for Matter-over-Thread products, and uses Bluetooth for onboarding and diagnostics. Voice control works through Bixby, Alexa and Google Home.
Setup and compatibility notes
Setup runs in the SmartThings app. The hub is powered by 5V 2A over USB-C and joins your network over Wi-Fi or Ethernet; a wall mount kit is listed as an accessory, and the USB-A port has no function yet, per Aeotec.
Aeotec says most automations and controls run locally, so they keep working even when your home network is offline. If you are moving from an older SmartThings hub with Z-Wave devices, check first: Z-Wave is not listed in Hub 2's technical details.
