About

The Aqara FP400 uses 60GHz mmWave radar to do what motion sensors never could: detect exactly how many people are in a room, where they are, and what posture they're in — all without a camera in sight. Whether someone is sitting perfectly still at a desk or lying down in bed, the FP400 knows they're there and won't kill the lights. You can divide a room into up to 30 detection zones and trigger separate automations for each — lights on only near the couch, HVAC adjusts when the office is occupied. Mount it on the ceiling and it also gains fall detection, alerting you if someone collapses, making it a practical safety device for households with elderly family members. It supports both Zigbee and Thread protocols with Matter certification, so it works natively with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, Home Assistant, and SmartThings. Setup takes patience — the zone calibration is involved — but once dialed in, this is the most accurate presence sensor available for residential use.
